  1. Broni told Peggy and other mods like jram and such to email you guys.

Forum has been kinda dead without you and smokey posting. Mostly IPB stuff for Broni. Which I am no good at.

I feel bad for you and Smokey. I still don't know what is really going on here yet.

Always liked your kindred spirit dobhar, Don't be a stranger. Rok

  2. I not been unaware of. Smokey is pissed also. Peggy sent emails. But Smokey replied that this should have neen discussed as he has a broken wing (bad back) so to speak. I when modding at the UN. I PMd all the mods there first. Quit because no one would reply due to lack of interest. After reading Smokeys reply. I can see how you guys should be pissed. You guys put time in on building the sites.

  3. Thanks dobhar,

I had no idea what was going on behind the scene here when broni pm'd me out of the blue and asked me to be a mod. You know me and how I take out the time to be friendly and help. I was actually suprised by bronis request me being a Linux user and my gruff ways.

After making me a mod. I then saw all the behind the scene stuff (area 51) and could see what...

  4. Thanks Broni...There are quite a few Logon Screen Changers out there. I use the free "Tweaks.com Logon Changer" from, of course, "Tweaks.com". Works quite well. http://tweaks.com/ar...d-in-windows-7/ Here's a pic of the tool with my present Logon Screen...
  5. Use of Codec packs

I totally agree with the use of VLC...but if ya want Codecs then, IMHO, there is nothing better than Shark007's Codec packages....Check his page out... http://shark007.net/index.html
  6. Left click broke on Asus EEEPC 900

Sounds like ya had fun Harry! Thanks for the links... I love taking Laptops apart...replaced a few displays, Fans, Keyboards, and Touchpads on our Laptops off Warranty.
  7. Windows Fonts

    Thanks for posting this JR!
  8. Norton or another program

Same as John and Berton...My last straw was using NIS (Norton Internet Security)...I have always used Norton\Symantec AV products since I got into computers. I decided to use NIS because I wanted a Firewall so NIS seemed the logical choice. NIS worked great for a year then the next version came out and it all went downhill from there...Firewall issues...Web Pages not opening properly...mail not downloading...etc. I had enough and removed it...I actually reloaded WinXP just to remove any bit of Symantec form my PC. I was a HijackThis Helper back then and one of the products that was well received in the community was NOD32. I have been using NOD32 since then and have not looked back. I have NOD32 most of my PC's and Laptops...I am testing Avast Free on my Win7 Laptop and so far I am quite pleased with it. So for me: Paid AV - NOD32 Free AV - Avast
  9. Norton's Internet Security, 2010

Totally agree with all on Norton and McAfee although Symantec Corporate AV does work quite nice in our Corp. Environment. I use Avast (Free) and NOD 32 (Paid) on my 3 Personal Win 7 puter and 2 Win 7 Laptops...
  10. Find Windows Boot Time With Boot Racer

Interesting...I'lll have to try this on my home units when I get home...thanks for sharing... :)
  11. Another question

LOL on the dongle Fran...it only took Broni 3 posts to get it...LOLOLOL Stupid question...was the dongle plugged into the old PC and did you remove it from old PC before you put it away...I know it's a long shot but it a question that has to be asked.
  12. 7 Starting to shut down by itself.

I also am a fan of Vista and was (now running it win Win 7 Ultimate) running Vista Ultimate (32bit) on a Dell Laptop. The only upgrade I did to the Laptop was increase the RAM from 2.0GB (what came with the Laptop) to 4.0GB. I never had any issues with it. My only complaint was how long it took to boot up. I recently upgraded the Laptop to Windows 7 as I like Windows 7 better than Vista but I would have no issues about installing Vista only any PC that it will run on.
  13. Nifty DeskTop Icon

<html> <body> <a href="http://www.smartestcomputing.us.com/index.php?/">I love Smartest</a> </body> </html> Hi Audrey...if you want to do what Keeper is saying just do the following... 1) Open Notepad 2) Copy and paste the text within the code box above into Notepad 3) Click on "File" then in drop down select "Save As" 4) In the "Save As" windows change the "Save as type" as "All Files (*.*)" 5) For File Name enter "I love Smartest.html" (without the quotes) 6) Save the file to a location of your choice 7) Create a shortcut to the file to your Desktop When you open\double-click the "I love Smartest" shortcut a blank page within your default browser will open with a link on it that says "I love Smartest"...when you click on the link it will take you to our page. I'm like Berton...even though this suggestion by Keeper is not a bad one I would rather just click on a link from within my Browser. I have shortcuts to our page on the "Bookmark Toolbar" in FF and the "Favorites Toolbar" in IE 8.0. The one good thing about Keepers suggestion is that you can keep on adding to this file and have a link to all your favorite links on one page. If you know basic html (web page coding) you can create your own Favorite Web page...as per my example below...<html> <body> <head> <center><b><u><font size="4">My Favorite Links</font></u></b></center> </head> <b>Favorite Forums</b> <ul> <li><a href="http://www.smartestcomputing.us.com/index.php?/">Smartestcomputing</a></li> </ul> <hr color="Red" size="2" width="98%"> <b>Favorite Games</b> <ul> <li><a href="http://www.rocksolidarcade.com/games/robokill/">RobotKill</a></li> <li><a href="http://www.rocksolidarcade.com/games/robokill2/">RobotKill 2</a></li> </ul> </body> </html>Looks like below...
