What's going on with Spyware Blaster lately? I've updated and it still shows there are 18 unprotected items in Restricted Sites. I uninstalled the program and reinstalled and it looked good with all items protected. When I did an update, it went back to showing 18 items unprotected again in Restricted. I tried manually to scroll down under that tab and checked the boxes in red that were showing, updated again and still the same thing?

Maybe you installed it wrong. The instruction were to disable all protection and remove it through add/remove and then to install new version 3.5.1.

If that is what you did, then sure someone will come along with what the problem might be.

I shutdown Spy Sweeper and was able to get the updates then. Just before I tried that I hit updates and it told me there were 194 unprotected items instead of the 18 prior to that. Never had that problem before with either program. :bald_head:

Peggy-After is disabled all protection and got another copy, it still did the same thing until I didabled Spy Sweeper. Must be some glitch there somwhere. Anyway, thanks to both as I have them now.

David...

I had the same problem when I upgraded the program earlier this month. I went to the "Official Forum" for SPywareBlaster at Wilders Secvurity Forums and search to see if it was happening to others. It was...here is the thread...

That was weird, dobhar, as I hadn't experienced any problem with them before. I was just able to check out that link you posted a few minutes ago as I lost my internet connection (Comcast) about 1:45 EST and just got it back at 6:15...about 15 minutes ago. That's the longest I've ever been down. Anyway, I had thought about going to their website when all this happened. At least it's a simple matter to disable IE Security Shield until I get the updates. Hope they get this fixed.

Hi David...

From the link...Figured I would post it...

Quote

Hi,

Webroot SpySweeper may prevent SpywareBlaster from enabling Restricted Sites protection. The following work-around should allow you to enable protection in SpywareBlaster:

1.) Disable the SpySweeper "IE Security Shield".
2.) Open SpywareBlaster and enable all protection.
3.) Re-enable the SpySweeper "IE Security Shield".

If you find this workaround is too much trouble every time SpywareBlaster updates, you can also just disable the IE Security Shield in SpySweeper permanently until the issue is fixed.

(And, if you are a customer of Webroot, please e-mail them about the conflict and let them know - thanks! )

---------

Also, some other anti-spyware programs may detect the Restricted Sites entries (a false-positive detection) and remove them.
A list will be put up shortly of programs that may exhibit this problem.

Best regards,

-Javacool
