well right after i posted my review of linspire 5.0 the invision servers crashed and burned. i was worried the whole day that i did something wrong or maybe that the traffic to see that post was too heavy for invision, loool. but as i hear it , it was just a "catastrophic hardware failure". so i guess i'm not to blame. it did wipe out my reviews of mepis and linspire tho so y'all will just have to catch the encore performance after i cycle thru all my other live cd's.
i see that the number of views for my kubuntu review last night is skyrocketing, loooool. it's up to 10 views, looooool. so what is on the menu tonight? how about knoppix 3.9!!! this one is a few months old as the current version is 4.0.2 but it's still a good one. i'm just having fun running these distros. it's like opening up a new computer every time i pop in a different cd. i'm pretty new at linux so i don't know the pros and cons, or the in's and out's, or any technical details. there are plenty of other great reviews on the web. this is just basically helping me learn what they're all about. so let's see what highlights i can find in knoppix.

When the board went down, I suspected sabotage--but no, it was just that Cybor and his reviews!!! LOL!LOL! Sounds like you are having a great time with your new experiments.

Keep up the goodwork Cybor :beers:
I have one box running Kubuntu which I gave to my wife to avoid hassles with constant updates, etc. Its very clean. I installed
firefox and Made a shortcut to the desktop and put a tab for aol mail. That way she can check the mail without aol or other software getting in the way. google is right there ready to use. Hopefully she won't pick up any adware or virus. I don't plan to install any firewall as I have a router. I'm not going to install any antivirus either. We will see. My plans are to have several boxes with one distro on each as opposed to dual booting. My next one will be SUSE. I will probably get the paid version as the downloads have been corrupted three times already
Thanks for the links and opinions.

glad you like them rearl. i'm pretty new with linux so i don't know what relevant features to point out. but i learn a little bit each time. i'm working out of suse 10.0 as we speak. it's called an "eval live cd". actually it's a dvd. pay attention to whether you're getting the cd or the dvd. perhaps that could be causing the corruption. i'm not sure but i think size dictates that you burn it to a dvd. or maybe you would have better luck downloading with a bit torrent client. here's some links about it.

if you're interested in buying a commercial version be sure to look at linspire. i was impressed with that live cd.

i just saved an old gateway p2 233mhz, 96mb ram, 6gb hdd from being tossed in the garbage. i erased win 95 and installed debian 3.1. the darn thing runs great, loool.
