I had to clean install today, because a virus has been in my computer for a week, and AVG did not detect it. I thought that is was the refresh rate failing. But it was not. The darn rig started acting very crazy. The desk top or the start menu, or other programs would come up with out being clicked on. Crap like Adaware would start running on it's own. I tried to repair it but it still was acting crazy. So I downloaded Panda Titanium which has virus protection and spyware protection and a firewall all in one. The 30 day trial. I found the virus but the damage had already been done. So I clean installed, loaded Panda back in, got on the web and with in 5 minutes Panda blocked 2 known viruses, and later on spyware. and guess where I was ? You guessed it, Internet Explorer. But lastnight on the old install it found 54 spyware's that Adaware, Spybot, and that Spy Defense program did not detect. I always think they come in by way of Internet Explorer, but I only really use it about 2% no more than that. But it is funny how a virus can mimic problems like motherboard failure, or refresh rate failure, and have you going completely in the wrong direction to fix the problem.

A clean install is always best, it makes the machine act like new.. I would tell you to get a Mac, but we have our own problems. :computer_whacking:
