wow. how does google get this stuff? i know belarc generates a htm file that opens in your browser but it's supposed to be a local file. how would google find this unless you uploaded this file to the web or google searches your computer. google may not do evil but they sure open the door for the devil. they're starting to scare me.

hey google, here's mine. (i hope i blanked the important info)

:scared_sh++_out_of_me: :scared: That looks as if that may be something someone has posted on the www and not something Goggle got from your computer. May be something someone posted on a site and asked someone to look at, or.........??

I never trusted google except to search as it is in My Favorites when I need to use it. I wouldn't take the download version.... Money is the name of the game and these popular D/L all have at least tracking cookies.
Good read Tonto.
P.S. Has it warmed up any outside your igloo?

JR., all the info refers to Windows XP Professional, but I subspect XP home could get it too. I just don't trust any of the big guys anymore. Like Enron in reverse...

I have never used the desktop version either. I like it for searching but I even dropped the free Google mail some time back.

Yea I had to drop it myself. As I forgot the password and they wanted my life history to allow me to re-do the password and Yahoo just came out with 250 MB of free e-mail. SO I told them where to put the cattle prod... One has to beware of free things as well as the popular items one has to buy because if they involve people then you can bet on at least tracking cookies if not keyloggers or worst.
The internet sure took a wide turn just when it was getting real useful for the general public a few years or less ago!
Simple to understand there are far to many users and where there are large sums of people you have greed. The same for $ where there are large sums of it....
Man I need a new keyboard.....

I don't need or use the desktop search either. But I do like it as a search engine. I experiment with other search engines but Google seems to work better for me.

something else that everyone might want to check is your personalized search history. i think it was enabled by default when it came out and unless you have signed out of it, it is recording everything you search for in your account. i think this history may be available to the public somehow if i recall what i read about it correctly. if you have a gmail account you better check what is enabled in your account settings. :fat_face_surprised:
