This is a little confusing. While trying to set up Site Advisor to work with IE I kept
getting firewall alerts for outbound traffic. Site Advisor has to access the internet
to get its info.

Three different IP addresses showed up. They are as follows:

69.64.185.84

206.17.108.248

69.64.185.86

Now according to ARIN this is the range registered to SiteAdvisor.

206.17.108.240 to 206.17.108.255

All processes trying to access show up as siteadvisor.exe.

Something odd going on here.

Infinicorp is a marketing company. Maybe siteadvisor comes with a little something extra???

Hi dano2 - I hope I'm not going to get my bubble burst, but this certainly does all sound fishy to me too. Somewhere I saw info on who the partners are at SiteAdvisor and what field of business/employment they were all in. Seems as though I do recall seeing something about marketing/financial services. Hmmmm! I'd better go back and check on that again.

THANKS MUCH for the new information! Appreciate your post!

dana2 - Here a link to the profiles of the members of the management team at SiteAdvisor - - - (in case you're interested in taking a look at it). They even mention who their investors are (at the bottom of said page). I'm sure the overview is not 100% "open and honest" - nothing ever is - everyone has secrets of some sort about something! :angel_to_devil:

Benjamin Edelman endorses this plug-in, he is even on the board. This guy is a nut when it comes to spyware.. Even over at Castle Cops, many use the plug-in. There is nothing sinister here, they are probably using servers all over the place , they do have offices in MA. and I think N.Y.this guys endorsement would be good enough for me :carmen_sandiego:

JR, I think you must own Google - you probably invented it, designed it, and wrote all the stuff that's in there too - you know everything that is on that entire website! http://www.smartestc...tyle_emoticons/default/bravo!.gif

You are absolutely the BEST at searching and finding stuff. You never cease to amaze me what you can come up with. Thanks much for this latest info. I'm off to read about this guy right now.
