Online AntiVirus\AntiMalware Scanners
============================


BitDefender Online Scan - Microsoft Windows 98, ME, NT, 2000, and XP
  • Click on I Agree.
  • You will be prompted to install an ActiveX. Please allow it and install it.
  • Under Select what you want to check for viruses, click on the Click here link.
    • Check (tick) the Desktop box.
    • Click on + sign next to My Computer. Uncheck (untick) your CD or DVD drive box(es).
    • Uncheck the Network box.
    • Click OK.
  • Under Settings, click on the Click here link.
    • Under Action options, select Report only option.
    • Click on the + sign next to Second Action.
    • Select Report only option.
    • Click OK.
  • Click on Start scan button.
  • It will start loading the antivirus scan engine and virus definitions and start the scan. (Note: This will take a while. Please be patient)
  • If problems detected click on the "Detected Problems" tab
    • Click on "Click here to export the scan report".
    • In the "Save in:" window select "Desktop".
    • In the File Name box, enter in Report.txt
    • In the Save As Type box, select Text (Tab Delimited) (*.txt) file.
    • Click Save.
  • Close the "Close" button

ESET Online Scanner - Works with Microsoft Windows 98/ME/NT 4.0/2000/XP and Windows Vista

(Note: This Scanner is for Internet Explorer Only)
  • You will notice that the "Start" button is grayed out. Place a check mark at "Yes, I accept the Terms of use". The "Start" button will become visible. Click on it.
  • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
  • You will be asked to install an ActiveX, click the "Install" button (Note: If you have a Firewall install you may have to approve the installation)
  • Once ActiveX control is installed click on the "Start" button to initialize the scanner
  • After initialization is complete check\tick "Remove found threats"
  • Check\tick "Scan unwanted applications"
  • Click the "Scan" button
  • Once the scan is done, you will find a log in C:\Program Files\esetonlinescanner\log.txt
(From dobhar - This scanner took 30 minutes to scan approx 218000 files on my Vista Laptop)

F-Secure Online Scanner - Microsoft Windows 2000 and XP
(Note: This Scanner is for Internet Explorer Only)
  • Follow the Instruction on the F-Secure page for proper installation.
  • Click on the "Start scanning" button
  • Accept the License Agreement.
  • Once the ActiveX installs,Click "Full System Scan"
  • Once the download completes,the scan will begin automatically.
  • The scan will take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan completes, click the "Automatic cleaning (recommended)" button.
  • Click the Show Report button
(From dobhar - This scanner took approx 1 1/2 hours minutes to scan approx 38000 files on my WinXP SP2 PC)

Kaspersky Online AV Scanner
(Note: You must use Internet Explorer for this scan. (***Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble with the accept button of the licence, click on the Zoom tool located at the right bottom of the IE window and set the zoom to 75 %. Once the license accepted, reset to 100%***))
  • Click the "Accept" (Note: Read the "Requirements and limitations" before you click "Accept") button at the bottom of the page
  • Allow the ActiveX component to download if necessary
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It will take a few minutes so be patient)
  • Once the database has downloaded, click "Next" button
  • Click "Scan Settings" and if required change the "Scan using the following antivirus database" from "Standard" to "Extended" (If available) and then click "OK" button
  • Select\click "My Computer"
  • When the scan has completed, click "Save Report As..."
  • Enter a name for the file in the Filename: text box and then click the down arrow to the right of Save as type: and select text file (*.txt)
  • Click Save - by default the file will be saved to your Desktop, but you can change this if you wish.

For Windows XP SP3 using IE 7.0:
  • Click on "Scan Now" button
  • It will want to install an ActiveX component...Click on the Yellow Information Bar and select "Install ActiceX Control"
  • At the "Security Warning window click "Install" to install the ActiveX control
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It will take a few minutes so be patient) (Note: If your Firewall gives you a warning make sure to allow the action)
  • Once the files have been downloaded the scan will automatically start

For Windows Vista SP1 using IE 7.0:
  • Click on "Scan Now" button
  • At "User Account Control" window click the "Continue" button
  • It will want to install an ActiveX component...Click on the Yellow Information Bar and select "Install ActiceX Control"
  • At the "Security Warning window click "Install" to install the ActiveX control
  • At "User Account Control" window click the "Continue" button (Note: You may have to do this a 3rd time)
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It will take a few minutes so be patient) (Note: If your Firewall gives you a warning make sure to allow the action)
  • Once the files have been downloaded the scan will automatically start

Trend Micro HouseCall 6.6 - Microsoft Windows 2000 SP4, XP SP2, Vista
(Note: Works with Internet Explorer 6.0 (SP1) or later and Mozilla FireFox 2.0 or higher)

For Windows XP SP3 using IE 7.0:
  • Click on "Launch HouseCall Free Scan" button
  • At the "Trend Micro HouseCall 6.6" window accept the license agreement by clicking the "I Accept" button
  • A compatibility check on your system will be performed.
  • At "Warning - Security" window check\tick "Always trust content from the publisher" then click the ""Run" button
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It will take a few minutes so be patient) (Note: If your Firewall gives you a warning make sure to allow the action)
  • For the "Select Scan Options" choose "Complete" scan then click the "Start Scanning >>" button
    • If you hear 3 or 4 beeps...just ignore
  • The window will be split into 2 sections...You will be interested only in the Left-hand section called "Status...it will be grey colored. The Right-hand section will be advertising...just ignore.

  • Click on the "Browse" button and navigate to the file that you want to scan
  • Once you have selected the file click on the "Submit" button to submit the file for a virus scan
