I've recently switched my email client from IncrediMail back to Outlook Express because on ongoing problems with IncrediMail no one seemed to be able to work out despite many emails to them. Outlook has gotten to be a pain in that every time I close it out, a box is there wanting to "free up disc space" for me. If I wanted to do that it sure wouldn't be through Outlook Express. Anyone know how to eliminate this pest from popping up?

There is no reason, not to agree to it. Most email programs compact messages.

I wasn't sure what they meant by "compact" or if they were going to delete something I wanted to keep. I've used Outlook Express when I first got this computer and never remember that popping up before.

Compacting is just compressing your emails, so they take less space.
WARNING! If you decide to click OK, make sure, you don't interrupt the process. I've seen cases, when mail was lost, if the process was interrupted.

To explain further, the Folders seen in Outlook Express are actually files of the same name and extension of .dbx. They are allowed to grow as messages are added but do not shrink when messages are deleted, leaves 'holes' in the files. Compacting the files is about the same as defragging the HDD but defragging does not remove those 'holes', merely moves parts of the files closer together.

I went ahead with it but it didn't make much sense to do so. Not having used Outlook in several years, there just wasn't that much there. I don't have near the folders/emails saved as I do in IncrediMail and I found it a little odd. I wish I could just transfer my IncrediMail folders to Outlook so I'd have everything together.

That looks easy enough-thanks for that link. I liked IncrediMail but it got so I had problems opening it when an email arrived or at times, when I would try to send a message. I emailed them several different times and they did respond but nothing was ever worked out with their suggestions. I kept getting a popup box that said "IncrediMail has encountered a problem and needs to close" and give the reason as some access violation code in Module IMApp.exe or something to that effect and then it would shut down. I just got tired of fooling with it since they provided no solution.

I have a little program that auto cleans Incredimail, maybe you could try it. Will try sending it to you in email. Let me know if it works, if not will send another way.
Be sure to closed ALL Incredimail programs before using it. When done it will auto open it again for you.
I tried to send it but my AV said protential infection, I went back and scan it with everything I have and it came up clean, but will leave it up to you if you want me to send it. Let me know.

It's probably a false positive-go ahead. I've got enough protection to about anything.

I noticed in some of the posts that Outlook Express was asked about but a few references were made to Outlook. Although they accomplish the same basics they are two quite different programs. Outlook Express is free and included with Internet Explorer and Windows. Outlook is part of Microsoft Office and is not cheap, available as a stand-alone program or as part of the Office suite of applications. Quite important to identify them correctly as some things work differently.
