Getting My Computer to recognise new D drive.

:bald_head: Help. I have installed a new extra drive in my pc which will make it my D drive.Problem is that althoug the the OS sees the drive it does not show on My Computer. I have to format it so that I can download Ubuntu on it. In simple language can someone talk me through it as I am only a simple man. Go Start>Run, type in:
diskmgmt.msc
Click OK.

In Disk Management, when you right click on your new drive, it'll give you format option.

To explain further, My Computer and Windows Explorer can't 'see' an HDD until after it has been partitioned followed by formatting. May even have to use the procedure outlined by Broni to assign a drive letter. If you don't want to have to reinstall some programs that rely upon the Optical drive being D: you can assign E: or F: to the new HDD or whichever is not taken.
