From this page: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss...p;validate=true, download, and install chipset, and video driver (chipset goes first).

Modem (you really need it only for dial-up): http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss...p;validate=true

I just read, that in R51, you have to press Fn+F5 to enable/disable wireless connection.
Make sure, you have Hotkey driver: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss...ocid=MIGR-38953 installed.

all 5 buttons at the same time? it doesn't do anything at all. I suppose I need a wireless card? I could maybe use a cable to run from the back of moms router to my laptop. I am not very good at Laptops so please excuse me. http://www.smartestc...tyle_emoticons/default/blush.gif

What do you mean by FIVE buttons?
Hold Fn key, and press F5 key......TWO keys, I guess :)

You can run a cable as well.

That would be your "Wired" Network connection. You probably saw that the Red X went away after you hooked up the cable.

The Wireless icon looks like single TV with 2 radio waves on the right-hand side...

So if your Wireless drivers have been installed you should have that Wireless icon in your system tray. If not then press the "FN + F5" key combo as Broni mentioned.

So far every Laptop I've ever worked on has has an FN Key. Your keyboard should have one in the bottom left-hand corner of the Keyboard.
Attached Image: ScreenHunter_04.jpg

The FN key controls the secondary control on certain keys on your Keyboard. For example pressing "FN" key and the "F5" Key does nothing on my Dell Laptop but on yours it enables and disables Wireless. On my older Dell pressing "FN" + "F2" would disable the WIreless. If you look on the keyboard you will see secondary symbols on some of the keys.

Thank you. for the past 2 days I have been trying to install that and I keep getting a pop up that says driver not installed. So I gave up and am just going with the ethernet for now. I guess if I ever get memory for this laptop then I will be better able to install the driver or adapter, whichever one out of that folder it is.LOL
