I have a Dell laptop computer with Vesta and MSExplorer 7. My firewall is MaCafee. Att. Yahoo is my home page. I can asses my Yahoo e-mail on every computer except on my laptop. This tells me that there's something blocking my browser from loading my e-mail page. My Yahoo home page loads onto this computer but when I click on the e-mail, I get a message that Explorer can't display this page. I think something is blocking it and I suspect it's aether Explorer 7 or McAfee. I've spent days trying to find the problem and I can't find the problem. I wounder if it might be the Vaster firewall working against McAfee if Vaster has one. I don't know how to turn it off nor can I find a way to turn McAfee off. Maybe, I should uninstall McAfee and install Norton as Norton has bee doing a great job on my XP desktop.

There's an other suspect namely Yahoo mail itself. I've seen this problem before. Can't remember what to do about it, though...

If that is so, why dose it only happen on my laptop?

What is Vaster?

See, if same thing happens in Safe Mode with Networking.

It's Internet Explorer on Vista [note spelling as there is also a Windows Explorer file management]. And it may be important to know which of the four versions of Vista you have, Home Basic, Home Premium, Business or Ultimate. It's also important to know if Service Pack 1 is installed.

Installing of McAfee or Norton internet security suites [or other brands] usually turns off the Windows Firewall in WinXP and Vista in favor of their own offering.

If deciding on Norton can only offer that the few installations I've done of Norton 2009 have shown much improvement of the previous 4 versions of their program.

I guess the "a" got in the way of the "i". I didn't think I could read my mail in saft mode. I'll try it.

Yes, you can.
Make sure it's not Safe Mode, but Safe Mode with Networking

I would like to stay with McAfee but Norton is very nice unless I want to install it. I have Home Premium but shouldn't I be able to read my mail on any of them? I don't know if Service Pack is installed. MS is always installing something. It installs something and then my computer restarts after the installment is completed. What a pain. I wish I could restart it when I'm ready like I do when I'm on my XP computer. Maybe SP1 was installed without me knowing it.

All Windows do it in very same way.
Restart computer, and keep tapping F8 key until you see this:

Using keyboard up/down keys, select Safe Mode with Networking, and press Enter.

I did the safe mode thing and it worked. I was able to read my mail. This made me think that it was the firewall or Explorer. I closed the computer down and I rebooted to regular mode. Well, the thing worked. I was able to read my mail Yahoo page. What do you think about that? Something happened to make everything right.

The McAfee was installed in my computer when I bought it. Recently I upgraded McAfee subscripting.

Go Start>Run (Start Search in Vista), type in:
msconfig
Click OK (hit Enter in Vista).

Click on Startup tab.
Click Disable all

Click Services tab.
Put checkmark in Hide all Microsoft services
Click Disable all.

Click OK.
Restart computer in Normal Mode.

NOTE. If you use different firewall, than Windows firewall, turn Windows firewall on, just for this test, since your regular firewall won't be running.
If you use Windows firewall, you're fine.

See, if you can access mail.
