I need help deciphering the symbols on WOT - particularlyAttached Image: wot.gif Attached Image: wot_2.gif.

I've looked on the WOT website - they are no help. I used to use Sitehound but I got curious - Peggy said she couldn't do without WOT! How do you use it? There is a WOT icon that is transparent on the toolbar. Thank you in anticipation! :help:

Fairlopgirl, I also use WOT. If you click on the symbol up by the address bar you will see the rating system. As you can see, our site has a green or safe rating. A red symbol will pop up if a site is unsafe.

Glad that Fran could help you out. I think you have me mixed up with her, I've never seen this WOT until just now. Don't even know what it is.
Fran this subject is all yours....... :bighug:

Peggy, WOT is a great little FF add-on that rates the safety of web sites.

Gee, thanks for the info, but I don't have FF. Will have to go check it out and see what other browsers it allows.

WOT is also for IE. Works like a charm.

Don't have IE either and wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. That's really, really looking for problems.... :crying:

Fran, (sorry Peggy) I still don't know what the symbols mean:

I click on the "WOT" icon and it always shows 'excellent'. It is transparent. Have I downloaded it incorrectly? Attached Image: duh.gif

When I hold the mouse over the symbol, I get the excellent rating for this site. When I click on the symbol, I get the display shown above. You will note that it gives you the opportunity to add your remarks about the site. Sites are rated by users. Check out 'Flagfox' another add on for FF. It is also very nice.

There is no need to worry. Once you've landed on a dirty page, you'll know how WOT alerts you. You will see a gray semi-transparent page covering all of the bad site and the text will tell you, that the site has been blocked and warn you not to go in there.

There's a page here with more information. It works the same way in Firefox: http://www.mywot.com/en/welcome/ie

Now I think I know what the first icon with the blue "!" is about. It's an information telling you, that a new version of WOT is available. You should see a blue bar in the drop down menu if you click your WOT icon. Just click that blue information bar and update.

Also a fine blog entry about it here: http://sandnsurf.wor...t-a-great-idea/
