I did not care for the scrawny keyboard that came with the Gate way so decided to pickup a Microsoft Comfort 2000 which per literature does not require drivers and or loading in Vista, auto recognize. Yeah as long as I use a USB plug in. I don't want to use a USB as I am limited on ports on this machine so want to use PS2 port. It recognized the Gateway keyboard with the purple plugin but not my Microsoft with the green attached plugin to the usb adapter and than plugged. What it may be my green PS2 adapter? Well I Have six of them and none of them worked. I get zip on recognition so am stuck on first base. Would appreciate any help to solve this

As you have found out that adapter does not work that way. I have been through this myself. They do sell a special adapter for this, I know Frys carries them.

I went to a few computer stores and my adapters match what is currently used on all PS2 hardware. There is a new double PS2 cable out but same configuration, so I will assume it is the device driver needs to be installed to pick it up, and Microsoft is once again wrong on not needing hardware for their keyboard. The port works with the Gateway PS2 keyboard so that rules out hardware problems and makes it a software problem.
