I have seen where the various LiveCD version of Linux were downloaded then burned to a CD [DVD for Knoppix Linux] but that won't work. The downloaded .iso file HAS to be opened in a CD/DVD Burning program which then creates the bootable disc from the .iso file. An .iso file is an exact image of the original disc and used to create duplicates when the original disc is not available. A typical download of Kubuntu 9.04 with have a file name of kubuntu-9.04-desktop-i386.iso, if that is what is on the CD it won't work.

I agree with Berton...sounds like the install disk is not setup correct. I use a free program called ImgBurn to create my Linux\Windows install disks from ISO files...
- Home Page => http://www.imgburn.com/
- Download => http://www.imgburn.c...hp?act=download

Install\insert a blank CD or DVD to burn to, start the ImgBurn program, navigate to the downloaded ISO file, then click on "Write Image File To Disk" and away it goes...

Get the Standard personal computer (x86 architecture, PentiumTM, CeleronTM, AthlonTM, SempronTM) for a 32-bit CPU or the 64bit version for AMD and Intel 64-bit CPUs, whichever you have. Click in the radio button for one or the other then click Download. Most times a 64-bit CPU can run the 32-bit version but never the other way around.

Unless wanting to use BitTorrent for downloading don't go further down the page.
