Fran, your Safari scores are quite a bit faster than FF. My scores are from Webkit, a Safari nightly. I think these tests don't mean anything in real life surfing. I still say FF all tweaked up and with noscript and adblock plus makes FF faster. I just happen to hit a faster nightly today, yesterday I was 320 or so.

So what is the bottom line? What is the significance, does it make any difference in long term operation or is this just another bit of random meaningless bit of information?

Jt, the big thing in todays browsers is speed, what browser loads the sites faster. The Webkit based browsers are faster, Safari, Chrome, and Webkit itself. The only problem with this thinking is, these tests are done without addons, like noscript , adblock etc etc . In real life surfing most people using FF have addons to speed up your surfing, like noscript, adblock plus and some cases flashblock. That's why these test are flawed and don't mean anything to the average user.

Thanks JR, I figured with my No Script, adblock, etc, I would be a bit slower and that is fine with me. Rather have security than speed.

Using those extensions makes FF faster, not slower. When you take those tests, noscript is disabled, that slows FF down. That's the point I've been arguing with these people, everyone that uses FF has these extensions, I tell these people when you surf to a intense site or any site with noscript, no scripts are executed , how can the other browsers be faster except when running these foolish tests.

I see now that I was faster using Safari--I was looking at %'s rather than the final score. I agree that these tests are meaningless, but fun. I always use FF with Adblock and No Script (that had to be turned off for the test). As long as I get where I want to go without any delay, I am happy.
