Gadget Problem

A Gadget will install and work (or not - seems like some are just poorly written) in the current session but will not come back after a re-boot; after a re-boot, no gadgets appear. Also, some of the Gadgets that I used successfully in Vista just won't display in 7.
I know that there was a UAC issue with the 7 Beta and RC so, have tried with UAC "full on" down to off - no difference. Also, even in Vista my Gadgets were dodgy - half the time the Gadgets would work fine after a boot but the rest of the time I had to stop and re-start the Sidebar, then, the Gadgets would work.
Anyone know of a solution?
FWIW, did a clean install on my wife's computer and Gadgets work fine - as they do for her in Vista.

Thanks, Broni. Did the Google thing before posting...most are for the RC or Beta; I didn't see any new posts regarding the released version. Tried the registry change that allowed the prior 7 versions to run Gadgets with UAC disabled but it didn't help.
I'm not a Gadget freak, but, I do like a weather gadget and there's a nice shutdown/reboot Gadget that I also use. I'll keep looking...

John - I'm using the Home Premium version. As I mentioned, the Gadgets were a bit problematic on my Vista install and I suspect that 7 inherited the problem - but, I don't know that for sure. I've tried turning Gadgets off in Features and then turning them back on but no help. Probably some registry item is whacked.
If you have any thoughts, I'm open!! Thanks!

Hmmm...I wrote a reply before...wonder where it went
Anyway, as I mentioned before, the upgrade was an experiment; and, it seems to have gone okay except fot the Gadgets. Oh...and the uninstall of Superantispyware->Bam, BSOD! I had posted earlier about the incompatibility between SAS and Win 7 at that time. And, since SAS came over with the upgrade, I figured that I better get rid of it and install the new compatible version. But, instead I got my third BSOD from Win 7 (all SAS related!) I never had a Blue Screen in XP, Vista either, for that matter...such is progress!
I'll fix all of this with a clean install but wanted to see how the upgrade process worked - not bad in my case so far.

My system is Athlon 64 4800+ with a slight overclock, ASUS A8N-E motherboard with 4 GB of RAM running 32 bit OS. Surprisingly, for its age, the computer runs XP, Vista and Win 7 very fast. Originally built it with 1 GB RAM for XP which was plenty for my uses; went to 4 GB when I added Vista. Vista ran horribly with 1 GB, okay with 2 GB and great with 4 GB! I saw no difference in XP as I added RAM. Keep trying to talk myself into a new system but every one that I try in a store runs slower than mine - longest I've ever had a computer! I upgraded with a physical DVD - ordered a couple copies of Win 7 under the $50 deal, each came with 32 and 64 bit DVD's (2).
Like you, my wife had an HP laptop with Vista pre-installed with 1 GB of RAM - pathetic! Motherboard would only handle 2 GB so I added 1 GB - awful! So, I bought XP and set her up with a dual boot - ran great! Called HP and complained LOUDLY that they were negligent in allowing a machine with a max RAM of 2 GB to ship with Vista; oddly, they did not seem interested in my opinion! That laptop also fried with the "NVIDIA Defect" - the GPU would get so hot it would melt its connection over time. Mine, of course, happened outside the 1 year HP warranty. Fortunately, I had bought it through COSTCO and had an extra year warranty. COSTCO fixed it and it worked until a month ago and the video has gone out again. This is a known defect that HP and/or NVIDIA needs to fix - I'll play with them when I have some time!
My SAS problem was my fault - I should have upgraded to the new SAS version BEFORE the upgrade. But, I only use SAS on demand and didn't think of it until after the upgrade. I knew that SAS would cause a problem if I started it so I decided to uninstall it - blue screen anyway!
Win 7 seems to run well enough that I may switch to it from XP, I'll see. If I do, I'll do a clean install of 7 and run XP in Virtual Box. In the meantime, if you read of any Gadget fixes, please let me know!

This seems to be pretty common per Microsoft question site.

I'll check that thread every so often - I'm sure that you're right, there will be a ton of minor fixes bubbling out of the Redmond swamp!
Let me know if you find anything.
