1. I want to setup WE so that when I click on the shortcut, the left pane looks like this:
Attached Image: winexplft.jpg
The screen shot doesn't show the heirarchy before the C: drive but it is expanded from Dicks Computer as seen in the second shot.
Right now it opens like this:
Attached Image: winexlft.jpg
This is the command line I'm using in the shortcut:
%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e /select, C:\My Download Files, /e

My question is how can I modify the command line so that the left pane will show the C: drive fully expanded?

2. Also, is there a tweak that allows one to see the lines of the file structure like was in Vista and earlier?
I prefer that view of the file structure as opposed to the simple view which it appears is now the only view available in WE.

3. Where is the Remember each folders view option? I guess it's automatic now, but it doesn't seem so.

I'm using Win7 Pro

1. How to Change Windows Explorer Default Folder

For instance to have C drive fully open, use:

%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e, c:

2. Do you mean "details"?
View - select what you want.

3. Tools>Folder Options>View tab>Apply to Folders button

Hi Broni;
TNX for trying. Perhaps I wasn't clear enough.
1. I want the c drive fully expanded in the left pane and the rt pane will have the files in the My Download Files folder showing.

2. In Vista and earlier in the View Tab of Tools> Folder Options, there was an item that when you removed the check mark, turned off the Simple View.
This then showed a seies of vertical lines which helped to see which subfolder belonged to which folder above it. That option is no longer there. That's the background on my question about how can those lines be seen, or even if they can.

3. When I open a folder in some particular view that isn't the same as the one set for the system in the Folder Options, I want that view to stay. In Vista and earlier, in the View Tab, there was an item, Remember each Folders View settings. I don't see that anymore.

I'm going to include a scrren shot of the line thing in another post, so that you can see what I'm talking about.

Hi All;

1. I found the answer. It was in Tools> Folder Options> Navigation pane. Put a check mark in both items. Show all Folders and Automatically Expand...

2. Here's the screen shot of what I'm trying to accomplish with the lines. Sorry for the large size.

Thanks, Broni.
I was using that command line, but the expansion I wanted didn't occur until I enabled the Automatically... item I spoke about in my previous post.

I've got the display of the files in the rt pane and the expanded list of folders in the left pane that shows up like I want every time I open WE.
The only thing I don't have is those little lines I'd like to see as shown in my screen shot of my Vista setup.
It appears to me that it's not an option.
I'm going to Google and see what I can find.

Those vertical lines in left pane?
I don't have anything like that.

In Vista, open WE> Tools> Folder Options> View tab. Scroll down to the Display Simple Folder... and remove the check marks, Apply and OK on out. You'll see what I'm talking about.
I can't get there from here in WIn 7
Google to the rescue on this particular item.
http://en.wikipedia....ed_in_Windows_7
Scrolling down to the Widows Explorer item reveals that that's one of the things M$ in their infinite wisdom removed.
