XPHE/IE8 frustration

I moved to a beter powerful computer still using my XPHE. Went to IE8. When I set the view to 'details' and then go to 'tools' to set all folders to the same view it does it ... but when I come back another time the view is changed back to 'icons' How can I correct this please? I've been using this setting for years prior to this change.

I assume, you're talking about Windows Explorer, not Internet Explorer.
Please, update your profile, so we know, what Windows version, you use.

It says for Vista, but it should work for XP, unless you have different Windows version.
