Okay, so when i'm away from my computer for a while, my computer logs off by itself. but when it does that, it stops after the taskbar and desktop icons get removed. so it just freezes, all i can see is my desktop wallpaper and my cursor(I can move my cursor still) and i get do any keyboard shortcuts like the task manager.

In case of desktop, the best idea is to disable all power saving features. They never work 100%.
Why do you need to log off anyway?

See here: http://www.microsoft..._02march25.mspx
Scroll to Configuring Power Settings section and on your computer, set all options to Never.
