In Xp, you could watch a streamed video clip, then go to Documents and Settings/User/Local Settings/Temporary Internet Files, find the clip and copy it to another folder for later use.

Can someone give me the settings and path to do this in Windows 7 Ultimate(64-bit)?

You need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape.
If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40.
If it moves and shouldn't, use duct tape.

C:\Users\your_name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows
You have to enable system files view in order to see the folder.

Getting there, but not there yet.

Set "show hidden files and folders and drives
Un-checked "Hide protected operating files(recommended)

Only the icons and the cookies show.
The folder has properties of 20.7MB on disk.
I used a short clip from You-Tube as the test

The clip was this one here.

I have no problem finding the "Temporary Internet Files" folder. The clip is not showing, just the icons and cookies. Yet the size of the folder is 20mb.

Can you test it on your machine? Go to the You tube link above, let it run till finished. Then see if the clip is in the Temp file

Thanks Broni.

You can only insert an image through its URL, but you can attach an image from your computer.

Let me see that uTube thingy.

Yeah, nothing here, but I think, it's uTube thing, because I can see all kind of other swf and image files there.

What do you want to achieve, Harry?
Do you need to download something from uTube?

No special goal today. This way of retaining a seen clip from the web has been a great source for use on my Home Pages.
Some setting, somewhere, is preventing these files from being accessed. It may be a security function of WIN 7. I can't believe I am
alone in doing business this way.

As usual, thanks a ton Broni. This is another reason why I keep a second drive with XP in my computers.

Again, thanks for the time and effort.

You can simply download any clip you want from uTube.
I don't use IE, so I'm not sure, if there is any add-on for that purpose, but if you also use Firefox, you can do it with this: https://addons.mozil...efox/addon/3006

FOUND IT!

Well it took me a while but I found them.

In Windows Explorer, go to Organize > Folder and Search Options. Click on the View tab and select "Show Hidden Files, folders and drives" and deselct "Hide protected operating system files"

Go to

"C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows \Temporary Internet Files\"

In the location bar up top, click it and add "Low\Content.IE5\"

So in the location bar, it should look like this.
"C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Low\Content.IE5"

Under the Content.IE5 folder, you will find folder(s) that are random alphanumerical 8 character names. Inside those folders, you will find all the temporary internet cached files.

If you do not deselect hide operating system files, you will not be able to browse to the folders with Windows Explorer. For whatever reason, Microsoft decided to permanently hide these folders and files. You will not see them unless you manually input them into the location bar. And you will not be able to input them unless you deselect that hide protected operating system files. Once I found the Content.IE5 folder, I created a shortcut on my desktop for it.

Alternatively, you can browse to those directories in the CMD prompt. But you will need to use the DIR /AH to display the hidden folders and files.

Again, that path is:

C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Low\Content.IE5

Gets a little tricky, but it works!

Have a great day!

Hey John. Downloading U-Tube is no problem. I even have a capture program to do that. I'm talking about ANYTHING you watch that is streamed. This is where the cache (and knowing where to find it) pays off.
e.g., I watched a Home Movie (snowing in Aleysford, UK) on a friends computer this morning. He played the clip on his computer using "Share Screen" function of Skype. I then had it in my cache to move and save. In fact, here it is (I hope):

Thanks Harry I am behind the times on some forms of streaming and where to look for them at, that makes the difference. Man does that look cold. Cannot complain tomorrow it will be sunny 62F.
