Waiting for an answer at a MS Forum on this problem but suspect that that may be a sloooow process...

My wife's computer was a dual boot Vista/XP machine. When I got Win 7, I created a new partition and did a clean install of 7. During that install, a Homegroup was created. I did not record the password.

Then I did an upgrade (yeah, I know but we went through this on another thread! Upgrade working flawlessly, I might add!) over the Vista install on my computer. I was told that there was a Homegroup but did not join it.

Then my wife got a Win 7 notebook and we did not join the Homegroup.

Now, the source of the problem... My wife really liked 7 and was tired of playing with Vista so I deleted the 7 partition and did an upgrade to 7 over her Vista install. Works great.

So now it's time to set up a Homegroup so that these three Win 7 machines can communicate, right? Can't do it. All three machines show that there is an existing Homegroup established (created by the now deleted clean install) and the only option (that I can find) is to "join." And we can't join because I don't know the password.

So, how do I blow away the old Homegroup and establish a new one! :bald_head: :bald_head: :bald_head:
If you don't have time to do it right
...when will you have time to do it over?

Update...

Now, bear in mind that I deleted the Win 7 partition and did the upgrade over Vista on my wife's computer a week or so ago, and, since then have been informed that a Homegroup existed.

After posting this morning, I decided to look again at my Homegroup options to see if I had missed anything. Lo and Behold, I was informed there was no Homegroup! A week after I deleted the Win 7 install that created the Homegroup the Homegroup is finally gone.

Yesterday, I ran the Homegroup troubleshooter from the laptop. It didn't find anything wrong but must have done something to get rid of the defunct Homegroup.

Printing across the network now just the way Gates intended! I think that it was easier the "old" way, though!
