Cheryl's computer keeps shutting down. I can get to the desktop but after a min. or so it just shuts down. The blue light on the front continues to blink and you can even pull the plug out of the wall and it is like it is still turned on, the light continues to blink. I wait about 2-3 mins and plug it back in and go to the desktop and same thing again. It just started doing this today. Any thoughts on what is wrong and how to fix, please?

Once the plug is pulled from the back of a Desktop computer all residual power should drain off in less than a minute, quicker if the I|O [On Off] switch is pressed. The only other power in a Desktop is the battery on the motherboard, provides power only to the CMOS and can't power up anything else. Unless it's a Notebook that can run on a battery.

No, it isn't an emachines. It's a ZT. I did go into safe mode, but wasn't there long enough to see if it shuts down, cause I didn't know what to do in safe mode, so I did a restart and let it go back to normal.

Just leave it alone in Safe Mode for 10-15 minutes and see what happens.
How old is the computer?
When was the last time, you cleaned inside the case?
If you need to do it, DO NOT USE ANYTHING ELSE, but a can of compressed air.

Started it again and a box popped up that said repair......I let it run through that and restarted it in safe mode, it stayed on desktop about 2 mins. then shut down, but the blue light in front stayed blinking.
The computer is about 3 yrs. old, and never have cleaned the inside of it. It has been packed away for almost a year but have had it up and running for about 3 weeks now and everything was fine.

Cleaning time would be the very first thing, I'd try.

Cleaned it and it seems to be working as of right now. Maybe that was the problem. Did notice a bracket that was broke off that holds one of the fans in place. Going to shut it down to put cover back on and pray that it will continue to work.
Let you know if it stops again.
