Cheryl's computer is major infected. Everything I click on says that file is infected. I ran Antivirus only come up with one virus and deleted it. I then install Avast 5, but it is telling me something about a side by side configuration and to check the programs event viewer. Didn't see that and click on other files and they all say the same thing. I can't even access the internet to download a fresh copy.
Do you think it would be okay to put her pics (she wants to keep) on CD and do a reinstall?

I would love to do that, but it will not connect to the internet. To many files are infected I guess. Let me see if I can do an HJT and put it on a CD.

Can't do that. Went in there and put CD with HJT on it in and it said that HJT.exe was infected, not true, none of my CD's have viruses on them.
So, I guess that means clean install? I have never done a Windows Vista clean install, is it done just like Windows XP?

What happened to Larry's post about the clean install of Vista. Thank God I got a chance to read it first. Did what it said and the clean install went through great. As a matter of fact it was a lot easier than XP.
All done and everything is running super.
Thanks for the help.....
and case is closed.

Way to go Peggy, you are getting pretty good at fixing problem PC's.
