Has anyone heard about this...............

Windows XP and Windows Vista

Microsoft is ending support for Windows XP, Windows SP1, Windows XP SP2 on July 13, 2010. Support for Windows Vista without any service packs ends on April 13, 2010. Windows 2000 support ends on July 13, 2010 no matter what service packs are applied.

If you're using Windows XP, it's imperative that you download and install Service Pack 3 before July 13, 2010, or you will not get any further Windows updates and patches.

If you're using Windows Vista and have not yet installed Windows Vista Service Pack 1 or Service Pack 2 - your support will end on April 13, 2010 - just over a month from now - if you don't install one of the available service packs for Windows Vista.

Please make sure you have the required service packs installed so that you will be able to continue to keep your Windows XP or Windows Vista computer up-to-date. Windows XP SP3 support ends in 2014. Windows Vista support is scheduled to end in 2013.

Interesting...I wasn't aware of this.

If your computer is running fine, I see no reason, not to install SP3.

Little scared to install SP3, since my computer is running just fine and have no problems, but sure enough if I install SP3, then I'll have problems, that's my luck.

Peggy, right before you go for SP3, create hard drive image, so if anything goes wrong, you can be back and running in no time.

Acronis True Image: http://www.acronis.com/ - not free, but the best

Free alternatives:
- Macrium Reflect: http://www.macrium.com/ReflectFree.asp (highly recommended)
- DriveImage XML: http://www.runtime.o...veimage-xml.htm (tutorial: http://www.bleepingc...utorial160.html)

They are trying to force XP out, so as to sell more new product. Annoying as heck Xp works fine {well most of the time anyway} leave it alone. Soon will come the day when product specs will no longer say 'win XP' onthe requirements. Bummer but till then....
