Am still using the RC version of 7 - 7100 on my laptop. I run SETI on all my home machines for lack of something better to do. Last 2 days noticing the laptop seems to be always asking for a log in. I believe it's shutting itself down like M$ said it would. Guess it's back to XP or Vista cuz I flat refuse to get *&^%ed again like I did when I bought Vista Ultimate the day it came out for 275.00 inc tax...... Still got it unused in the box - both 32 & 64 bit versions... Got me on that one - won't get me again tho

Anyone else's starting to do the same or am I just one of the last in the bucket?

There is nothing wrong with Vista.

I'm still running Vista 32-bit and also Win2000, WinXP Pro and Win7. I do like Win7 much better even though the Vista machine gives me very little trouble.

The periodic shutdown of Win7 RC/Release Candidate is quite normal, should soon shutdown and not start again, was supposed to be two weeks after starting to get the notice. The RTM version of Win7 is Build 7600.

It is a preference thing and I hated Vista 64 bit. It did not like many of my graphic programs and I had crashes all the time. I have had zero crashes with win7. I think much of it is what each person in running on their machine. I do graphics so want a smooth running system, with my core quad and 8gb of RAM to work without hiccups.

I also am a fan of Vista and was (now running it win Win 7 Ultimate) running Vista Ultimate (32bit) on a Dell Laptop. The only upgrade I did to the Laptop was increase the RAM from 2.0GB (what came with the Laptop) to 4.0GB. I never had any issues with it. My only complaint was how long it took to boot up. I recently upgraded the Laptop to Windows 7 as I like Windows 7 better than Vista but I would have no issues about installing Vista only any PC that it will run on.
