I'm so pleased that the installation went so well! I was careful not to DELETE anything, Broni. I did have one minor glitch. I couldn't seem to get the DSL modem to work. When I checked the instructions, there in the box was the part I had missed--the power cord. I was glad I had paid for computer set-up service. They had de-crappified the machine, run all the MS updates and that saved me a lot of time. Moved all that she wanted from the old machine with a flash drive and got her Norton 360 up and running without a hitch. (She had just paid for another year of the program and she likes it--so don't blame me). She is delighted to have bundled all her services with Qwest--now has DSL. Direct TV with a decent picture and unlimited telephone and long-distance. And she is paying $73 less than before!!! She also loves her new computer and her Mom for setting it up! She was so impressed with how fast Broni delivered an answer, that she may join the forum. I do have to say that it is much easier to set up a Mac!
Now, my question. Somehow we ended up with a sign-in page that she neither wants nor needs. Could some kind soul please give us directions--I ran out of time and had drunk too much wine to risk searching last night.

Select daughter's account and remove checkmark from "User must enter...."

Another question--Does anyone here know where the heck I put the USB dongle for her wireless mouse? After all the confusion, it is nowhere to be found. Currently using wired mouse, but hoping that thingy will turn up. LOL!

What do you mean by "nowhere to be found"?

You can't find what? :)
Give me more than one sentence to describe what the problem is...

I lost the USB dongle that connects to the computer to run the cordless mouse. It is a small item resembling a flash drive. I hope that clears up the matter. Obviously, you have not seen it floating around. LOL!!!

A number of models store the 'dongle' on the bottom of the mouse. There's a few that have a very small dongle and it stores inside by the battery.

At least, someone is taking me seriously! Somehow while unpacking the new computer and taking away the old, the USB dongle got lost. It's no big deal--she is using the corded mouse that came with new computer. I just hoped that Broni would know where I put it--he is always so helpful!

LOL on the dongle Fran...it only took Broni 3 posts to get it...LOLOLOL

Stupid question...was the dongle plugged into the old PC and did you remove it from old PC before you put it away...I know it's a long shot but it a question that has to be asked.

No such luck, dobhar. Sweet Prince has stripped the old machine down. I have examined the parts--no dongle. It probably went out with some of the packing materials or it will turn up some day in some unlikely place. We have to keep Broni on his toes! LOL!

If you're as good with throwing out things, as with deleting things, I'm sure, this is exactly what happened...:ugly_man_laugh:

Yeah, I'm pretty good at throwing things out. Sweet Prince, on the other hand, never disposes of anything he thinks he may have use for in the future. I have no idea what he thinks he will do with the parts of the old computer. Perhaps he will design a new bird house. You have no idea how many things we have around here constructed of old parts--including me!
