I am somewhat of a Linux friganeer. This is what I do when I am not here.

That is pretty detailed for and install. Once I get my new laptop I intend on installing Ubuntu on it. Upon checking the download site it mentions working on Vista but not mention of windows 7. I may need to just check further.

Forgive my ignorance

it mentions working on Vista but not mention of windows 7. I

Isn't Windows 7, Vista based but slimmed down. Like a Updated Version of Vista. In other words. The accepted norm is if it works in Vista. It will work in Windows 7. Only difference is whether 32bit or 64bit Vista/Windows 7 installs and apps as far as compatibility goes. Like I said. I am ignorant when it comes to Windows.

It sounds like you are talking about a wubi install of Ubuntu, which I know hardly anything about. Since
Wubi is tightly integrated but seperate (sounds like the Holy Trinity doesn't it) inside of Windows.

Wubi installs inside of Windows. But is immune to Windows viruses because of the EXT file system inside the UBUNTU file inside of Windows. Makes my head spin thinking about it.
