Any opinions on using K-Lite Codec Packs, especially for Win 7 x64. Never had to utilize packs before and wondered if anyone has here. Just need an opinion on there use...

Not sure about Klite codec packs keeper. I find that VLC works well (in Linux and Windows 2000 Pro, I don't have Windows 7)

Edit: I should mention that my gear is 32 bit. I run 64 bit Ubuntu 10.04 on My 64 bit IBM Desktops though and I use Mplayer on them.

Maybe some other members can give better input than me when it comes to Windows 7 (like Broni or dobhar)

If you know nothing about Linux, take some time to get familiarized with these courses.

It depends on why do think, you need any codecs.
...and, surely, nothing better, than VLC :)

I totally agree with the use of VLC...but if ya want Codecs then, IMHO, there is nothing better than Shark007's Codec packages....Check his page out...

I use VLC 64bit on my windows 7 system works great. When I had XP Pro I used the Klite codecs and they worked fine.

Ive always used VLC but when installing I leave uncheck that part about taking over files extensions (or something similar can't remember now) cause at times all my desktop icons would turn into the VLC icon and no program would run. At first I would reinstall windows untill later I found the cause and a little program that fixed it.

Hi, Keeper,

I use Shark...that is all you need! I have been using these Codecs for many years... you do not need another thing..and Less is More. But I use Windows..but not for long..
It has a great interface or control panel, if you please, and you really do not even need to change any defaults, unless for something very special..it was great for me..I blast Beethoven! ( and Ravi Shankar)
