I may have found the real problem...

I had forgotten to delete an Intel Driver in system32 when I reinstalled this.

Intelppm.sys
I followed the instructions at HP for total system instability...

1. I changed the name
[then it can be deleted.]

I also inserted the K8 driver in that file-it was not there.
I rebototed and it does seem better.
no picture jumping, faster and cleaner looking picture.

Do you think that this could be the problem?
Maybe we should wait and see if it crashes on me when i surf, watch videos, email &c?

What do you think, Broni?

Use the computer for a while and report on any new issues.

Broni,
Thanks for the assistance..I certainly will report..

You know that HP builds all their assembly-line computers with all the drivers in them for all of their lines. The only think different are the instructions for ewach model that tells the computer how run for each different hardware set, model etc. So both drivers are in there - we just have to be sure that the correct driver is used.

So that Intel driver, if not removed and/or made not to work, can cause havoc in a machine with a different processor than Intel.. This happens to be an AMD.

This keeps the price down for them and may cause headaches for the owners.

Such is life.
Sandra
