I am working with a new clean install of Win7 Ultimate. Due to a virus, I chose to blitz and install new. For some time I have had Win 7 on my 'server' and my laptop, both of which are not used too much. Main machine from XP Pro to Win 7 - when I re-size a window to fit a certain folder, all subsequent folders all have the same size windows - not what I'm looking for. If I set my 'C-System' folder to a size that fits what I'm looking at, all the rest of the folder windows are the same size, if I change one of them, I change the whole string....... Make sense?? If so, How do I fix it? I work at each folder fitting a certain window size - I'm a stickler for appearance...

TIA

Nope - Talking about the W7 Desktop.
If I open My Computer in a Desktop window, for example, and resize to my liking where everything fits and then close it, all the folder windows I open after that will be the size of the My Computer window, even though I had previously resized them.

There's only two choices of settings on the Control Panel, Folder Options, View tab but I don't think either will accomplish what you want.

Let me see if I can 'splain......

From the Desktop, I click on ,for example, Computer. It then opens a window showing the drives. I resize that window by clicking and dragging the border til I get it to my liking - the height and width now fit what is inside. From there on, every other Desktop window I open will be the same size as the first one. I have some that have only the folder name and date, so they are thin and tall. If I resize one to where it is thin and tall, everything after that will be thin and tall.

Let me post this and see if I can get some pictures up here....

I'll have to do pictures tomorrow evening too late now - gotta hit the rack I FINALLY work again.....

Good news :)

Then, I think, I understand what you want to do, but I don't think, it's possible.
