We recently went through a major update from 2.0 to 3.1.2 due to an internal server error that was persistent causing us to loose our member base. We lost all our custom skins and gained more glitches.
The board owner enlisted me to ferret out the glitches and install new skins. However, in the process of finding suitable skins, I have found I have to be real careful to choose only the ones that specifically apply to 3.1.X.
3.0.X's have glitches that have to be address, and when they are paid for skins it makes it annoying to have to go into a copyrighted skin to fix it.
The new releases from IPB is up to 3.1.4. From what I've been reading on their forums and other skinner forums, most of the skins are not compatible and/or have more glitches that need to be addressed. If we maintain the updates, is it going to wipe out the customizations already done? Will we need to fix the "ittybitty tiny print" you all experienced on internet explorer? And, most importantly, are our members using older computers going to suffer due to compatibility issues?
I could go to IPB and ask them in a help ticket but it seems such a waste of time to bother them with a question like these. I've seen a lot of similar questions on their forums that remain ignored or are responded to rather tersely "..get a new computer.."
Still learning....
