She said while at some site a box popped up and told her that the PC was infectected so she clicked Ok. She thought it was Avast. Another window popped up and that's when she called me. The window said Windows Security Alert! I believe? I managed to close that box & another one plus IE.

Aha....I hope, she'll be smarter in the future :)
Yeah, she felt bad about clicking on that first box.

1. We need to reset system restore to prevent your computer from being accidentally reinfected by using some old restore point(s). We'll create fresh, clean restore point.
Done!
2. Now, we'll remove all tools, we used during our cleaning process
Clean up with OTL:
If you still have any tools or logs leftover on your computer you can go ahead and delete those off of your computer now.
Cleaned up!
3. Make sure, Windows Updates are current.
Up to date!
4. If any Trojan was listed among your infection(s), make sure, you change all of your on-line important passwords (bank account(s), secured web sites, etc.) immediately!
No Trojan found!
5. Download, and install WOT (Web OF Trust): http://www.mywot.com/. It'll warn you (in most cases) about dangerous web sites.
Installed!
6. Run Malwarebytes "Quick scan" once in a while to assure safety of your computer.
Will run it myself!
7. Run Temporary File Cleaner (TFC) weekly.
Ok!
8. Download and install Secunia Personal Software Inspector (PSI): http://secunia.com/v...ning/personal/. The Secunia PSI is a FREE security tool designed to detect vulnerable and out-dated programs and plug-ins which expose your PC to attacks. Run it weekly.
I'm going to run the Secunia Online Software Inspector (OSI)
10. Run defrag at your convenience.
Last thing that I did and it needed doing!
Will do so every so often.

12. Please, let me know, how your computer is doing.
Running good! I've always liked her Dell Laptop.
I installed Firefox on her PC years ago and she never did use it. :(

Mark as Resolved. :-)

Thanks again Broni!
