Anybody out there still using Windows 98,98SE,Windows ME or Windows 2000 ? I will spare you and not ask if you are using windows 3.1 and Windows 95. But I am really curious, and if some people are still using them, I will be in shock. Now I think none of those systems are supported anymore so how could you use them anyway. Windows 2000 and ME you might be able to get away with. But the thing is, programs are much more demanding of computers today, and these old OS can't handle most of the stuff.

I still have no less than two copies of 2.1----->XP{xp, sp1, sp2, sp3}, I have both Ms discs, and the reinstall discs {mostly for Dell, though some others as well}

I use them for parts, and for experamenting, but no even I know these {9X--->2.1} are antiques.

I have Windows 95 and Windows 98 on 2 hard drives. And I have a Windows XP service pack 3 on a installation CD. Don't know if I will ever use them again, I loved Windows 98 though. I might put 98 on a old rig and just keep it around. I had Windows ME laying around but I installed Windows XP on it and gave it away a few weeks ago.

The big problem with WinME was it came out about 6 months after Win2000. A bunch of consumers/home users wanted something newer than Win98SE since businesses got something newer than WinNT 4.0 and Microsoft tried to give consumers some features that weren't quite ready for 'prime time'. That's the only version I skipped over after getting my first computer with MS-DOS 5.0 and Windows 3.1 in 1992 [I missed out on the other terrible OS, MS-DOS 4.x]. I've used WinME and found it generally performed best on computers built for it, by the 'brands' that controlled the hardware and drivers for it [a lot like Apple does].

You know what Berton I think that you are right. Windows ME did fine on the rigs that were built for it, and if you kept it updated you were ok. Poor Tonto kept his ME for a long time, without to much of a problem. I did not have to much of a problem out of mine ether.
