I've been using my new iPad 2 for less than a week, but my first impression is that it is a lot of fun! But it will never replace my Mac. The touch screen takes a bit of getting used to, but isn't hard to master. Forget what they say about the cover keeping the screen clean--I'm always reaching for a cleaning rag. I love being able to get on the internet and visit my favorite forums from the comfort of the living room. I do a lot of reading on my Kindle--the iPad will never be good as an Ereader. It is too heavy and the lighted screen makes enjoying a book too hard on the eyes. But it is so handy to have instant access to the internet and maps while I'm reading.
I am able to read and post easily on the forum, though I have not yet figured out how to attach graphics or photos to posts. The copy and paste function is available for Email and other apps, but does not seem to be available for forums. I'll keep trying to work that out. The virtual keyboard presents a challenge. I am a touch typist--I can type with all fingers, but must watch the keyboard which was a no-no when I took typing and even a quick peek might earn you a whack on the fingers.
I've only just begun to investigate the world of Apps. Have gotten a dictionary and a weather program as well as the Daily Macworld Reader. And then there is my favorite game--Angry Birds. I am so addicted that I will probably need an intervention. I thought I would do better on the iPad than I do on the computer--Wrong! Even my Dentist's six-year old son is farther along with Angry Birds than I am and he is only allowed access to the game for a few minutes when he has been a very good boy.
So far I am quite pleased with the device and will keep you posted on my progress if my addiction to Angry Birds hasn't earned me a trip to the Funny Farm!

The keyboard really isn't bad once you get the hang of it. I won't attach a keyboard since that would tie me to a desk. The joy of the device is that you can use it anywhere. It does tend to make me shorten my posts which I'm sure others find to be a blessing. I definitely will not be writing my great American novel on the iPad. I'll be looking for some sort of cleaning cloth to keep with the device.
