Hello guys. Long time no see...lol. Have a little problem with my gateway laptop. I can't open anything I download. I use winrar and I know it's not the program itself I think it has to be the laptop. It downloads everything but its when I unrar that gives problems. Says something like file corrupted, so I downloaded the same program (like games)with my desktop computer, unrar and it works fine. Had Win Vista before and it did the same thing. I have noticed that it's mostly games that won't unrar, though not necessarily games only. Have any idea what might cause this? Thanks in advance.

I am XP, and .RAR DOES NOT work period.
I have tried many a program to no avail.
Try and stick with .ZIP

Something so simple was giving me lots of headaches. It works perfectly now.I had never thought of going to 7zip. I have a 320 hd and couldn't put it to any kind of use for downloading. Thanks everyone. Nice to hear from Broni, I remember you from that other place..lol...will try to visit this forum more often,take care all.

Been using WinRAR since Windows 95!! EVERY version! No problems ever. Use it to this day. Used to use WinZip, but as someone mentioned, it don't do well with RAR files. I constantly D/L game files for the Boss. 99.9% are RAR files, the other few are bin/cue files. Currently using it with 3 installs of Win7 Ultimate. Have D/L near 600 game files for the Boss, again - NEVER a problem.
Of course, I don't use firewall programs either.........
