Yesterday my external mouse stopped working. I had used my laptop, shutting down correctly. Booted again, no USB.
Uninstalled/reinstalled the drivers, they work. Why did this happen?
Thanks

What do you mean by "no USB"?
Did you try different mouse?

Where exactly can you see that error?
In Windows 7 all drivers have to be digitally signed, or they won't be accepted.

in Device Manager Universal Serial Bus Controllers'
Standard Pci to USP Host Controllers

They both had an ! point on them and when I checked the General Tab I got the error.
The drivers were still there and they are legit.
Microsoft
6/21/2006
6.1.7601.17514
Microsoft Windows
I uninstalled and reinstalled and now they work.
Same drivers, loaded from the drivers folder. That is what is baffling me. Why would they
just up and quit?

Good news :)

You know, this is a typical example of computer gremlins.
Things like that just happen.
Maybe some recent Windows update, maybe some installed program....who knows...
