I just downloaded open office to see how it works and so far so good. I'm curious in that it does an amazing imitation of Microsoft Office , how could they make something that close to Office and not get into trouble with Microsoft?
Just curious
Thanks

I have been using Open Office for about three years and love it. Microsoft Office is a solid product but not worth it for what they want for it. I have used "Think Free", and "Star Office" but Open Office has been the best with very few problems. I even go rid of Microsoft Works on my laptop and went to Open Office. The file formats are different than Microsoft, and open source has been around for many years.

There's also LibreOffice [much the same as OpenOffice] and IBM Lotus Symphony, both free. A compelling reason to use them is the ability to open Office documents and Save as Office formats such as .xls, .doc and the newer .xlsx and .docx formats.
