I have a yellow exclamation point next to one of my devices in my device manager, its under network adapters. its called: microsoft tun miniport adapter 2. The computer has Windows Vista installed.
I seem to have got this right after I got updates from microsoft. Windows updates will not install these updates but it keeps telling me I have updates downloaded. I was going to so a system restore but I can only go back one week and thats how long it been on this pc. I have an error code 10 for it, device cannot start. I have read on the internet and so far I have not seen a fix. I assume it could be malware related but that don't explain why I get error in device manager. Maybe someone here has had this problem and can help me. vossy

Personally, for some reason I don't recall now, I disabled IPv6 protocol altogether.
Are you having any actual issues?

The Microsoft Tun miniport adapter is part of the Vista networking architecture. It is used by the IPv6 protocol. Since IPv6 is a very new Internet protocol that is not really being used much yet, chances are that you are not using this device and therefore it is not causing any problems. The yellow exclamation mark just means that the driver for this device did not install correctly. You can try to update the driver by letting Vista search for one, but it won't affect the operation of your system to leave it the way it is. You can also uninstall the IPv6 protocol from your network connection properties which would then permit you to remove or disable the Tun miniport adapter. To remove IPv6:
Click on Start and go to Control Panel, Network and Sharing Center, click on Manage network connections, click on Local Area Connection and then click Properties. Then click on Internet Protocol version 6 and click uninstall.

Not really having any problems other than I would like to get the updates. It only started this after a windows update. It keeps installing but never completes. I will read the info you posted and see if I can fix it. If not then I might post in the malware forum and see if anything has sneaked in. Thanks for you reply. I will post back what I find. By the way this computer is a desktop and I have internet. vossy

I looked in the windows update file and I see many that were not installed. I wonder why these are not installing. This computer runs great, just this problem with updating and that error in device manager.

Yes, I bought it new. I have looked in the failed updates and it goes way back to 2008. That was soon after I purchased this pc. This computer I think runs way to good to have a virus. It is as fast as the day I got it. It boots fast and when I click something it is up in a flash. I can do what you want if you still think the computer is infected but I could not ask for a computer to run this good. I did notice I have the ASK toolbar. Not sure how that got installed. I will probably start a new topic in your virus fourms tomorrow or the next. Thanks again for your tips. vossy

Thanks Broni. I will try and post in the malware fourm and maybe you can see something that might be causing this. I have tried a few more things and each time when it reboots it shows that some updates were not installed. Again thanks for your help. We had bad lighting storms today so I have not had the pc on very much. It looks like the same forcast for tomorrow so maybe I can do this without the power going off. More later. Thanks again. vossy
