When I receive and e-mail from one person, who uses aol, I am unable to open file that shows it to be an .eml file. I can drag it to the desktop and open it, but not from within the email (it's an attachment).
When I right click on the attachment attachment box opens;
Name: Fw_Paul Le Page -- go get 'em Tiger.eml
Type: Unknown File Type
I click on the 'open' button and it mentions creating an association in Folder Options - Control Panel.
I opened Folder Option and eml is listed under file types.

An .eml file usually can be opened by an installed E-Mail Client such as Outlook Express on WinXP, Outlook, Windows Mail on Vista, Windows Live Mail, IncrediMail, Thunderbird, etc.
Online E-Mail functions usually can't open files associated with installed programs.

Berton, am using WinXP Pro and Outlook Express. Haven't received an eml attachment for some time, but I recall in the past I was able to open an eml file in OE, now I have to drag it to the desktop to open. Something must have changed - will have to do further research. Thanks!

Got it straightened out. Double clicked My Computer, Tools, Folder Options. Select File Types - hit the new button, entered EML then Advanced button and entered Outlook Express.

Glad you got it. I didn't mention HOW to do it since the version of Windows and the installed E-Mail Client weren't mentioned in the question.
