doing it like this I get no permission to do this error when marking all read LOL
does this wether its placed like you have or up in header bar so I suspect its something altogether different, but I was able to get the button into header bar easily.

I suspect this is ip content issue as thats in play and affects furls

edit: it was I had to open the stock mark as read and copy that url then use it.

what I had to do after moving this to main board was same thing, depending on how ipcontent is setup you may need to copy that mark all read url for individual sites, IOW one url may not cover all.

this is my current header bar now :)

need to adjust the top border a bit to center it on the header bar and I want to test on either side of the search bar, see which way works best for users.
just so much space there not used its worth the time to make use of it.

do need to check this as others get the logged in error.
think I know issue, I use ipconent (htaccess) for home page and think its furl issue.
