Can I put HDD images from 3 laptop computers on to one USB external hard drive, noting here that the external HDD has more than enough capacity? Or should I put each PC image on a separate external HDD? What's the difference between an image and a clone, if any? Thank you.

This link makes imaging/cloning of a single internal laptop hard drive a breaze. Clone the hard drive via a USB port and you then have an imaged hard drive that you can replace the internal hard drive with. I have used it to replace hard drives that have preliminary tell tale signs of emanate failure. I have also used it to replace a small capacity drive with one of larger capacity. I don't know how someone can image three internal hard drives on one external drive. Once the three are imaged, I don't know how they would be recovered again if needed. I would be interested in knowing how this is done.

Imaging makes an exact bit by bit copy of a hard drive. Is this what you want to do, or do you want to simply back up data files that you have created?
