Nowadays, with the advancement in technology and with the new inventions in the field of computers, everything has become instant. Due to powerful and speedy processors and with other advanced hardware the time utilization for doing a particular kind of task has reduced to a great extent as compared to earlier parts or hardware devices. As we all know, that speed for a particular application depends upon the average CPU utilization that is needed for that particular application and the current CPU usage. This may vary as an application can increase or reduce CPU utilization depending upon its peak usage time. We may consider an example where browsers increase resource consumption as soon as we open the new tabs. So, although the current CPU usage can be monitored from the Task Manager, but on the other hand monitoring the Average CPU usage of a particular process can be really difficult. Therefore, in order to monitor the average CPU Usage of a particular process running in the computer, we recommend you a small and useful application which serves the above mentioned purpose.

Average CPU Cycles is basically a small, easy to use, useful and a portable application which allows the user to monitor the average and the current CPU utilization for a selected process. It works by measuring the CPU usage for specific programs from their start time to the current time or simply by initiating the calculation from a selected point in time as mentioned by the user. So, by this we mean to say that by starting the CPU usage calculation during peak time, idle time or general usage you may monitor that how much CPU is used during maximum, minimum or normal application usage. As you may know that, Windows Vista and 7 uses the kernel32.dll function named as QueryProcessCycleTime to measure smaller CPU bursts with other more commonly used methods. Along with that, it also makes the measurements less dependent of the current CPU frequency if the computer uses processor frequency scaling/throttling. Similarly, this tool i.e. Average CPU Cycles, uses the same mechanism for allowing users to calculate CPU usage of a process which may prove to be very useful in some scenarios.

This tool can be easily downloaded from the link given below and can be easily installed. After launching, you may start by clicking on the Process button given on its interface and then you may proceed further by selecting a particular process for which you want to monitor the Average CPU cycle. After selecting the process, you need to click from Process Start in order to monitor the process from the start time to the current time or just click on from Now in order to start monitoring CPU usage from the current time onwards only based on the need and requirement. You may observe that the slider provided on the main interface allows selecting the time interval after which the CPU usage is measured through you which you may easily select the time period. After this, you may see that by using the time interval to a lower level can help you in calculating the CPU usage more accurately.

It is just like a daemon process and it provides continuous information for the selected process until it is closed by the user. The main interface displays all the detailed information a progress bar along with numerical data regarding the Average CPU usage, MHz used, Total CPU cycles, Average MHz and current load. So, just download it from the below given link and try it out.

That might be useful to those of us with 'vintage' hardware, and speed issuses... Thanks Mr. B.
