Windows Mail is no longer included in Win 7. You can either use Windows Live Mail, MSN Hotmail or any other email application. This article will explain further.....

Actually, Hotmail and MSN Hotmail are now known as Windows Live Hotmail.

Windows Live Mail and Windows Live Hotmail are 2 different email programs. One is offline usage the other is online, I have and use both. View Link and while there click on Hotmail at top to see difference.

Just for laughs I did some research on this subject and can not find any way of getting Windows mail or ever Outlook Express to run on anything above Windows XP. Windows Live Mail is the only option, outside of using some other free email app.

Yep, Outlook Express was discontinued when Vista came out with its Windows Mail which in turn was discontinued when Win7 came out. Lots of folks like IncrediMail [and it's notifier of new messages] and lots of folks like Thunderbird, both free as is the aforementioned Windows Live Mail. Then there's the online/Webmail functions included with your subscription to your ISP, usually allow 2 E-Mail Addresses and maybe more. One thing not mentioned much is that the free SeaMonkey browser [from same Mozilla as Firefox and Thunderbird] that has a built-in E-Mail Client.

One other tidbit about Outlook Express, it has a limit of 2GB and those who use it with Hotmail had to get something else because of Hotmail's increase to 5GB for the free and more for the paid version plus some other more-technical changes.

Vista's Windows Mail saves the messages differently from the .dbx files of Outlook Express which is probably what the "same friend" was referring to.

I use Outlook, and have been since starting 7 a year or 2 ago. I probably should look at some of the others, but trying to teach the Boss a new mail client just aint worth the grief.....
