I have a Microtek Slimscan C3u Flatbed Scanner that I have used off & on. it came with a installation disc that said Slimscan C3 usb & Scanmaker X6 usb. It was for Windows 98. It had a number of extra programs on it that I liked. I was told by Microtek being that I now had Windows XP I needed to download the new driver. Following Microteks instructions I uninstalled the programs and then I downloaded the driver that said it was for Windows XP
I installed the new driver DRV SW V2 60 AD......reinstalled everything from the Slimscan installation disc.. Now I keep getting this error that pops up and says "Can't Load msmgr32.dll".. and half of the programs that were on the installation disc will not work????? Any advice? AND Sorry that above was suppose to read msmgr32.dll

Thanks
Katz1113

Maybe Broni went to work? A lot of hardware works well with XP. I would have uploaded the original software to see if it worked functionally first prior to trying the new drivers. Everything I had from 98 worked well with XP, until I got to Vista than everything became a problem. I have Windows 7 Pro and I am still using a printer that I had when I had 98. It works well with the updated drivers but most of the software that came with it no longer functions.
Sounds like the same thing except you are dealing with scanner. Perhaps the below link may help. Others have ran into that situation as well.

Thanks John... But what is this "can't load msmgr32.dll" thing that keeps popping up on my screen? it definately is something connected with the scanner or the programs on the install disc. Man I find these kind of things so darn frustrating! LOL

Make sure you have installation disk in your CD drive.

Then....

Please download SystemLook from one of the links below and save it to your Desktop.
Download Mirror #1
Download Mirror #2

64-bit users go HERE
  • Double-click SystemLook.exe to run it.
  • Vista\Win 7 users:: Right click on SystemLook.exe, click Run As Administrator
  • Copy the content of the following box and paste it into the main textfield:
    :filefind
    msmgr32.dll

  • Click the Look button to start the scan.
  • When finished, a notepad window will open with the results of the scan. Please post this log in your next reply.
Note: The log can also be found on your Desktop entitled SystemLook.txt

OK, this is what I think happens...
msmgr32.dll file is not present on XP and higher.

When you install scanner by installing its XP driver it should work just fine.
However those extra programs may be not compatible with XP but only with Win 98.
When you install them, they're looking for msmgr32.dll file, which you don't have.

I suggest you uninstall everything and you reinstall just scanner, nothing else.
See if it works.

If it does we can try to find that missing file somewhere.

it highlights but just sits there and does nothing. I was on the web looking to see if I could find any information about it and I seen a number of posts where other people were experiencing the same thing after installing the disc.. the strangest thing is I was sure I used that exact program on here before,,If fact I know I did.. and now I can't remember what changes have been made since I last used it..other than updating the driver???? but when I look under imaging devices the scanner shows but the device driver..... the new one I installed isn't showing??? OMG this can get so confusing for me..
