I've been tasked with putting together components for my 13-year old grandson for a new computer build. Their Dell finally died and he's been wanting to do this with Grandma for a long time. I was given a budget of approximately $1,000 and between the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales and rebates, I was able to put together a list of pretty good components. He thinks he's getting new jeans and socks and maybe a game or two.

I scored a Gigabyte Z68 UD3P board for $140 and an OCZ Agility 3 60 GB SSD for $65. Of course, the 1 TB HDD was outrageous as they all are right now. Everything is Sata III.

All leading up to my question... I was planning on using the 60 GB SSD as a boot drive and the 1 TB HDD for storage, downloads, etc. This would take a certain level of "management" to make sure as little as possible was installed on the SSD. But this Intel Smart Response Technology on the Z68 boards has me leaning that way now because there will be 4 different users on this computer and managing the SSD might be tricky. I know there are trade-offs on using the SSD as a cache drive, but do any of you have any experience with the ISRT and have any opinions?
