When I try this, I get an error message: UNABLE TO SAVE PERMISSION CHANGES ON ROOT. ACCESS IS DENIED. I was able to merge the legacy dfe key and I was able to add full permission for everyone as well. I ran regedit as administrator as well, still unable to save permissoin.

I suspect your computer may be still infected.
Try here: http://social.msdn.m...75-fe2cef2656ac
If it still doesn't work I suggest you create new topic in our malware removal forum and we'll see what's going on there.

With the link above, I was finally able to get the right permissions allowed. Then I was able to merge the missing registry keys and all is now well. Again, thanks for your help and your willingess to share your expertise.

The log is below. I had to go through the process of assigning permissions again from the link in panel #26 and apply the fix for the file association error again, as well. Not sure why that would be the case, but if you have a suggestion, I'd appreciate knowing and again, thanks so much.

Yes, you also have some issue with "Action Center".
Go Start and "Start search" type in:
services.msc
Press Enter.
Services window will open.
Find Windows Update service and see if you can turn it on manually.
Also....
Following steps involve registry editing. Please create new restore point before proceeding!!!
How to:
XP - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948247
Vista and Seven - http://www.howtogeek...system-restore/
Download Seven.zip file from here: http://www.smartestc...y-network-keys/
Unzip the file.
You'll find several files inside.
Double click on wscsvc.reg file and confirm the prompt.
Restart computer.
Post new FSS log.
Go Start and "Start search" type in:
services.msc
Press Enter.
Services window will open.
Find Windows Update service and see if you can turn it on manually.
