Your computer is clean Posted Image

1. We need to reset system restore to prevent your computer from being accidentally reinfected by using some old restore point(s). We'll create fresh, clean restore point, using following OTL script:

Run OTL

  • Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following:

:OTL
:Commands
[purity]
[emptytemp]
[EMPTYFLASH]
[emptyjava]
[CLEARALLRESTOREPOINTS]
[Reboot]

  • Then click the Run Fix button at the top
  • Let the program run unhindered, reboot the PC when it is done
  • Post resulting log.

2. Now, we'll remove all tools, we used during our cleaning process

Clean up with OTL:

  • Double-click OTL.exe to start the program.
  • Close all other programs apart from OTL as this step will require a reboot
  • On the OTL main screen, press the CLEANUP button
  • Say Yes to the prompt and then allow the program to reboot your computer.

If you still have any tools or logs leftover on your computer you can go ahead and delete those off of your computer now.

3. Make sure, Windows Updates are current.

4. If any Trojan was listed among your infection(s), make sure, you change all of your on-line important passwords (bank account(s), secured web sites, etc.) immediately!

5. Download, and install WOT (Web OF Trust): http://www.mywot.com/. It'll warn you (in most cases) about dangerous web sites.

6. Run Malwarebytes "Quick scan" once in a while to assure safety of your computer.

7. Run Temporary File Cleaner (TFC) weekly.

8. Download and install Secunia Personal Software Inspector (PSI): http://secunia.com/v...ning/personal/. The Secunia PSI is a FREE security tool designed to detect vulnerable and out-dated programs and plug-ins which expose your PC to attacks. Run it weekly.

9. (optional) If you want to keep all your programs up to date, download and install FileHippo Update Checker.
The Update Checker will scan your computer for installed software, check the versions and then send this information to FileHippo.com to see if there are any newer releases.

10. (Windows XP only) Run defrag at your convenience.

11. When installing\updating ANY program, make sure you always select "Custom " installation, so you can UN-check any possible "drive-by-install" (foistware), like toolbars etc., which may try to install along with the legitimate program. Do NOT click "Next" button without looking at any given page.

12. Read How did I get infected?, With steps so it does not happen again!: http://www.bleepingc.../topic2520.html

13. Please, let me know, how your computer is doing.

hey, I let the OTL do the fix in normal mode lastnight then I went to bed. When I woke up the OTL was still in its scan and the PC seemd to freeze up. I rebooted into safe mode and did the OTL. The pc runs nice in safemode but in normal mode its very very slow, also some of the USB ports dont work. When I look in device manager it shows 2 excalmation points on 2 USB controllers.

but here it the OTL log from safe mode:

What exactly is slow?

Uninstall those USB controllers and restart computer.
They'll be reinstalled automatically.

Just everything is slow, slow start up, opening My Computer and other windows is slow, Panda Cloud Antivirus takes for ever to enable on start up sometimes it don't enable at all and when I try to enable it I get an error. Antivirus could not be started. Firefox takes forever to load. The OTL and TFC was taking to long to scan, it would just freeze. I had to do them in safe mode. I am not sure what it going on here. I did a defrag but still moving slow. Possible low ram? It has a AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2.19 GHz and 1.12 GB ram. It is an old machine.

When I uninstalled the USB controller and rebooted, they tried to reinstall but:

An error occurred during the installation on the device.
The data is invalid.

This happen for both of them.

It could be some hardware problem.

See if you get same slowness in Safe Mode with Networking.

When I look at the back of the PC, I can see that there's a USB internal card plugged in with 4 ports on it. They all work good.
There is 4 more on-board USB ports that don't seem to work. When I plug in my USB flash drive, as I plug it in it will flash once. Then when its all the way in it will stay flashing, happens in all 4 on-board ports in the back and the 2 USB ports on the front.

Nope, it runs nice and fast in safe mode with networking.

I guess someone installed that USB card for a reason.

Now....let's do this test....

Go Start>Run (Start Search in Vista), type in:
msconfig
Click OK (hit Enter in Vista).

Click on Startup tab.
Click Disable all
IMPORTANT! In case of laptop, make sure, you do NOT disable any keyboard, or touchpad entries.

Click Services tab.
Put checkmark in Hide all Microsoft services
Click Disable all.

Click OK.
Restart computer in Normal Mode.

NOTE. If you use different firewall, than Windows firewall, turn Windows firewall on, just for this test, since your regular firewall won't be running.
If you use Windows firewall, you're fine.

Same slowness?

Ok. it's faster a little now. I also test the USB ports in safe mode and all 8 on the back work. The 2 on the front still acting up. But back in normal the USB's still acting up. Hmm

Reverse all changes in "msconfig".
That was for testing purposes only.
If there is no BIGGER improvement it doesn't look like a software problem.

Download and install SIW Multilanguage With Installer (SIW free version) (bottom of the screen)

Run the tool.
After it scans your computer, navigate to Hardware>Sensors and post all info from there.

52C is rather warm for your processor.
Max temp for that CPU is listed at 70C.

I suggest getting a can of compressed air and cleaning inside the case.
At the same time see if all fans are running.

Well, not that much difference.

I'm not really sure what to tell you at this moment.

Please download VEW and save it to your Desktop: http://images.malwar...om/vino/VEW.exe

Double-click VEW.exe then under Select log to query, select:
Application
System

Under Select type to list, select:
Critical (Vista only)
Error

Click the radio button for Number of events
Type 20 in the 1 to 20 box
Then click the Run button.
Notepad will open with the output log.

In Notepad, click Edit > Select all then Edit > Copy
Reply to this post, click in the reply window and press Ctrl+V on your keyboard to paste the log.

There is a lot of different errors there.
Could be some issue with Windows installation itself or some hardware problem.

Go Start>Run ("Start Search" in Vista/7), type in:
sfc /scannow
Click OK (hold CTRL, and SHIFT, hit Enter in Vista/7).
Have Windows CD/DVD handy (with Vista/7, most likely, you won't need it).
If System File Checker (sfc) will find any errors, it may ask you for the CD/DVD (rarely in Vista/7 case).
