BC, can you give the specifics of the nvidia graphics card on the computer? Also the OS of the computer, and memory on-board.

Idle temps are great.

Now with speccy open. run a video in a manner where you can still monitor the temps.

Yes the temps will update as you monitor it.

Fantastic temps. Jealous in fact.

Normally I have found that the air passages on the video cards get partially plugged up and that causes overheating and black out and shut down/lockups of the computers.

Removing the cards and using canned air to clean out the passages and then using alcohol and something like q-tips to clean the fan blades, then use a pencil erasure to clean the contacts before re-inserting the card has been the fix that I have used for years.

Now I have had laptops with low end cpu's , screens to go blank when I had a 50 inch or larger tv hooked up as a monitor.

Seems it could pull the tv or the laptop screen but not both.

Possibly that is happening, but I have no way of testing that.

Sorry, but that is the best I can do!

Sounds to me like a Nvidia Driver corruption issue since you said

Sometimes the window pops up nvidia experience crashed/searching for solution

What someone else said when I googled the above quote error

Also wondering if your friend is overclocking the gpu (Nvidia card) and the card is shutting down the screen before

breaking stuff. If me. I'd concentrate on the Nvidia part of your friends problem.

I don't trouble shoot Windows so a Windows expert needs to step up I guess.

If he update the drive to one that is not really compatible, yes the latest is not the greatest in this case, you need to roll back to the older driver.

" finally got a chance to test my vid card after a cleaning. Temp is good, well hasn't changed. but when I try and play a game I get really bad lagging and this time I kept an eye on the fps which was jumping considerably from 10-200. When it got low which it did alot I got serious lag. Windows 7? new vid card?"

Don't know if he updated the drivers . How would you roll them back ?

Thanks.

Look in device manager, Display adapter, R-click the devcice and select properties.

Drivers tab

Post the driver date:

and Version number

I should be able to go from there.

Do not mess with the buttons below that data. But do note them.

Now with a BIOS update tp P1.70, this cpu would make a huge difference.

http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K10/AMD-Phenom%20II%20X4%20980%20Black%20Edition.html

That

AMD Athlon II X3 435

is not real great for gaming.

Where i started my cpu upgrade research.

http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/M3A770DE/?cat=CPU

Selected the HDZ980FBK4DGM(BE) which is the 980 in the top link.
