OK, must be my turn, as I missed this post for past month ! I'm bob olson, but since I always wanted to be a "rob," that's what I am since Smart Computing days. I'm really a nice guy except when Tonto brings out the worse in me...Haha ! I have settled in Tampa and it is the best place I've lived ! And about that humidity...If we didn't have it, everyone would live here; you could forget the electoral college as it would just be Florida voting !! I can ID with lots of you. I was born and raised in SoCal until I went in AF during Viet Nam. I was always going to get out next time, but didn't until I had been in 23 years !! I loved my job in aircraft maintenance...always have loved aircraft and flying! Spent much time in NoCal, while stationed at Beale AFB, 50 miles N of Sacramento...luv'd striper and shad fishing there ! Also lived in Okinawa, as well as making many temp trips there. Also 13 mos in South Korea. Also time spent in England, Hawaii, and many hell-holes. Then my last AF 8 yrs in New Hampshire (beautiful place, but too long winters and both days of summer are very nice !). As I was readying to retire from AF in 1990, I decided I didn't want to return to Ca, so since both days I had spent in FL were good... Me and my cat moved to FL. Since my arrival, got a wife (2nd and last!), a dog and a house ! My current job (hopefully last) takes me to Canton, OH twice a year for training. I usually go to Omaha ea year, where my 5 g'kids and my kids reside. Audrey, I've been in Goosebay twice (much too cold there for me); Bronislaw sounds like a salad my wife likes; And a earlier post sounded like Broni was offering mouth to mouth to David E??? My friend, Broni and I weren't really friends til we both took on Czar Steen and lost ... haha! CW, thnx for that explanation as I was going nuts trying to figure out "seadoubleyou!" Since I can no longer work my first love...airplanes; I do get to work my second love, Computers ! (Shhhh, don't tell my wife the order of my luv's ) Glad to still be mixing it up with old friends from Czar Steen's site !!! Now go break your rigs so we can try to fix them ! SeeYa, rob

Hey rob, nice bio, and nice to hear about you as a person. We spend a lot of time debating political issues which amounts to very little to me on getting to really know someone, but It is nice to know about you as and individual. What I really respect about you is your great knowledge of hardware. I am a simple hacker who has yet to burn my boards but the only thing I have and A+ in was recess so can always use help when it comes to changing out components.

Hey my hair brush looks just like that, Hmmmmmm :fat_face_surprised:

You're welcome, Tonto. Glad to finally say something that pleases ! Thnx to the rest for kind words. John, my hardware / computer knowledge was driven by my love of flying / and anything aircraft! Wife and I went to a friend's New Years Eve Party (tame) years ago, and this friend had the first Micro$oft Flight Sim (3 diskettes) on his super fast 486DX266 computer. I spent the rest of the night with my mouth on the floor flying ! Thus started my dismal quest in building computers that could run Flight sim satisfactorily! I have bought every new version of Flight Sim, now up to MS Flight Sim 2004. Each version requires more horsepower to run satisfactorily...SOOOOO I build new rigs to keep up ! I still fly 3-5 times a week. If I am going on a trip, I first fly it in Flight Sim, and no kidding, when I make the actual trip I recognize the terain and landing and TO patterns ! Can't help it, I LOVE AIRPLANES AND FLYING !!! rob

You need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape.
If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40.
If it moves and shouldn't, use duct tape.

i just introduced myself over on smurfies new board and it occured to me that i never intro'ed myself here. so while i'm in the mood here goes. hey better late than never right.
my real name is stephen (steve) but i've grown partial to cybormoron. there may be many morons on the internet but there's only 1 cybormoron. lol. i'm a 50 yr old SWM and plan on staying single. i've been involved a couple times but they didn't work out. kinda like that bruce springsteen tune "i went out for a ride and i never went back". i have a little college education (community college) and am basically a blue collar working class stiff. it looks like i'll have to work for 30 more years before i have enough money saved to retire. i hope i make it. lol. i have background in auto mechanics (basic gas station remove and replace jobs. batteries, alternators, water pumps, brake linings, exhaust, etc. just before all the gas stations converted to convenience stores in the late 70's.) factory auto production (plastic injection molding for ford motor company) and housing construction (masonry, concrete foundations, painting.) the latter most recent. i'm a veteran of the US Air Force and willingly served in the Philippines '75, '76, '77. (hydraulic mechanic c-130's, c-5a's, c-141's, f-4's. i was assigned to a MAC outfit but worked on the phantoms mostly.) we received the phantom squadron at clark when they closed the bases in thialand. the vietnam conflict ended the same month i turned 18 and i thought i'd wait till things settled a bit before i enlisted. may god bless those that went before me. i was born in detroit michigan, grew up in pittsburgh pennsylvania and moved back to detroit area where i am now. i'm somewhat a novice to the computer world. i walked out of computer class back in the mid 80's cause i couldn't make that blinking A:\ do anything but abort retry fail. i just recently (1 and a half yrs ago.) bought a new machine to see what all the excitement was about and have become a certified web surfin addict and software junkie. lol. so that's my story and i'm sticking to it. happy new year to everyone. if yer suffering a hangover this morning drink plenty of water. that hair of the dog stuff just puts it off another day. trust me. lol.
