Not worried about your Yahoo Mail? You should be. [RANT]
by Rich Menga
Unless you were living under a rock last week, the CEO of Yahoo!, Carol Bartz, was fired. Shortly after that she pulled some seriously stupid maneuvers (as if she hadn't done enough already) and started dropping the word f*ck all over the place (yes, really) and then called the board of directors "doofuses". Charming lady, isn't she?
Yahoo! is a turd and has been for some time. And while it's probably true you don't care about Y! as a company, if you use Y! Mail, you do care about that.
My suggestion is really simple. Stop using Yahoo! Mail. If you're have a paid subscription as a Y! Mail Plus user, cancel it. If you're using the mail as a free user, use Hotmail, Gmail, GMX or any other number of free mail providers.
Yahoo! is up for sale at the time I write this. Yes, this company is such a huge steaming turd that the board who runs it wants to just offload the whole thing.
Do you really want to use a mail product from a company as unstable as Yahoo?
"But I don't want to switch!"
If you want to be a stick-in-the-mud and stick with Y! Mail that's run by a company that's so unstable it might fall apart at any moment, well, go right ahead. But if it stops working or it's sold to someone else that runs the mail service into the ground, don't say I didn't warn you.
